Brace yourself for a long post with lots of photos, because we spent our 5th day in Portugal in Sintra!
Sintra is a town with monuments like palaces, a castle and many more historical buildings, enough to fill a few days of sightseeing. From the train station it’s a steep climb to the town and all the sights, so we took one of the buses bus that brought us to a few of the sights.
The first stop was at the Palace of Sintra. We didn’t go in, because it didn’t look that exciting, but walked around town for a while before we took the bus to our next stop.
The second stop was the Castle of the Moors. It looks a bit like the Great Wall of China, hahah. The view from the wall was SUPER pretty. So worth the money to get in and climb the stairs!
The Palace of Pena was our next stop. We got a ticket for both the palace and its park. The palace is nice to see while you’re there, but not a must.
The Pena Park is HUUUGE. There are many sights in the park as well. After walking around the whole day our legs were too tired to walk through the whole park (yes, even though we’d taken the bus to the top), so we only saw a part of it.
Back in Lisbon we went to the food court Time Out again, because we liked it so much the first time. We all tried different dishes, dishes that weren’t BLACK this time :p. I had a pizza with truffle and a burger with foie gras and truffle dressing. SO good!
We’ve been wanting to watch the sunset here in Lisbon and heard it was nice at a rooftop bar, but on Sunday (day 2) when we went there, it was closed. Just our luck :p.
This evening we were at walking distance from the rooftop bar again, so after dinner we finally went there, but to be disappointed, because the sun wasn’t even visible there! The view was still pretty though, but we’ll try to catch another sunset on our last evening here.
Of course, we ended the day with an ice cream at Santini! I tasted the sour cream flavour. It was REALLY good, especially together with the raspberry.
